So this is it, final curtain call, my time here is over.
I guess you could say that I have somewhat enjoyed myself here, but I definitely have had enough. There were the ups and certainly the downs (probably more so than the ups), all of which I believe have just made me more mature. Before coming here, I begged my parents to let me come to Australia to study, thinking how wonderful it would be if I could come here to study. The weather (not as gloomy as Vancouver), the beach, more freedom, opportunities to travel, and just knowing that I would be closer to "home", Singapore. What I guess I never really expected, thus never took into consideration, was the loneliness that you would get moving to a somewhat foreign country and not knowing anyone in the city. All your closest friends were no longer less than an hour away (to think of it, they never were unless I was back in Singapore on holidays), and there certainly was no family to go home to. I guess for me, nothing really beats Singapore. Then again, the grass is always greener on the other side.
I think I am just glad that this phase of my life is coming to an end, and now, a new chapter awaits to be written. So what's next? Singapore, Vancouver, or some other country? I honestly couldn't tell you right now. All I know, is that I am ready to end this chapter. I'm leaving on a jet plane and will only be back for about 10 days at the end of July for my graduation and to pack up the apartment. I think I'm going to really miss living alone and the quiet time that I get for myself.
