indulge in luxury

RachaRacha2

I miss this place. What can I really say, but the two months that I spent on this tiny island south of Phuket was truly a life changing and unforgettable experience. I thought that adapting to life there among strangers (many of whom don't even speak english) would be incredibly challenging and emotionally draining, but surprisingly, my experience there was spectacular and more than I could ever ask for. That place was like heaven on earth. Walking to work in itself was amazing, always a breathtaking sight to appreciate whilst inhaling the fresh ocean breeze. What more can one ask for? Though there was always that feeling of isolation and disconnection from the "real" or outside world, I miss the simplicities of living on an island. In Canada, Malaysia, Singapore or Australia, I could never leave home without my handphone/Blackberry. Whenever I did forget my handphone/Blackberry, I would feel so lost and disconnected. Yet for two months of living on an island, I learnt to be less dependent on these materialistic and technological things, and I could go on days without even turning on my Blackberry. I think what also made life so much more enjoyable there, were the people. Thai people have got to be one of the most friendly and hospitable people that I have ever met. I guess that is why Thailand is known to be the land of smiles. I am so grateful for all the friends I have made, they have definitely made it more than worth it.

Well many might wonder up till now, what is this place I talk about. Two words, The Racha, a boutique hotel located on Koh Racha Yai in Phuket, Thailand. If you are ever looking for a relaxing island getaway or romantic hideaway, check out The Racha. I assure you that you will have no regrets. I am looking forward to the day when I can once again walk on the beach with my toes in the sand, or take a dip in the crystal clear turquoise waters at Koh Racha Yai (best thing to do after a long day at work).
